Translating (French to English) - Drafting documents in English - Text correction in English - Teaching English as a Foreign Language (CELTA) - Voice-overs (English)
Fluent in English and French, I have been offering French to English translation services for over 30 years. Working with many different types of text including medicine (psychiatry), wealth management, gastronomy and music, I have translated books, speeches, articles, reports, websites, pubicity texts, advertisements, CVs, letters, etc.
In addition, I proof-read and correct texts in English and draft letters, CVs, reports, publicity materials, etc. I also contribute articles to Magna Intuitum, an online newspaper (read a few examples).
My book entitled A Seeker's Guide to a Life Worth Living (O Books) is now out, incorporating around 70 articles.
My blog spot on the publisher's website is http://www.o-books.com/blogs/obooks/how-to-get-a-life-worth-living/ and I have added several articles to it.
In 2004, I completed courses in Better English and proof-reading with Chapterhouse.
Having obtained a Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) in 2003, I teach English mainly to private students. My work has also taken me to the Université populaire de Genève, where I have been Head of the English Section since 2007.
Testimonials
Jili Hamilton was the only possible candidate to translate the two volumes of Origami, my first novel. Her fluency and absolute mastery of English and French as well as her literary sensitivity made her the ideal person to carry out this mission of trust. For more than six months, Jili expended a phenomenal amount of energy and much precious time to perfect this translation. Totally dedicated to her task, she was able to recreate the atmosphere to perfection. Our innumerable on-line conversations have resulted in a friendly collaboration which I appreciate enormously, added to the deep respect in which I hold the exceptional quality of her work.
- Chris Ranchoux, author of Origami, vols 1 and 2.
It has been a pleasure to work with you. Your proof-reading will definitely improve this memoir! If I hear of people who need proof-reading I will certainly recommend you.
